Our Retail and Consumer Centre of Excellence Team have more than 15 years’ experience in the Management and Delivery of Legacy Programmes, developed by the Sector Education and Training Authorities, namely; PIVOTAL Learnerships and Skills Programmes.  The College is accredited and enjoys Extension of Scope for 6 full qualifications ranging from NQF Level 1 up until NQF Level 5. 

Our programmes stay current and relevant, as we include our Industry Partners and Subject Matter Experts during curriculum development.

General Education and Training Certificate: Adult Education and Training (NQF1 - 120 Credits)

MINIMUM ADMISSION REQUIREMENT:

It is recommended that learners have achieved the following in order to access this Qualification: 

  • Communication at ABET Level 3 or equivalent
  • Mathematical Literacy at ABET Level 3 or equivalent

The General Education and Training Certificate (GETC) in Adult Education and Training (AET) is suitable for adult learners and will provide them with fundamental basics of general education learning.

The purpose of the Qualification is to equip learners with foundational learning by acquiring knowledge, skills and values in specified Learning Areas. This Learnership will provide a solid foundation of general education learning which will help prepare learners and enable them to access Further Education and Training learning and qualifications, particularly occupational workplace-based or vocational qualifications.

The focus of this Learnership has been designed to enable learners to be competent in a range of knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviours relating to:

  • Developing and applying relevant skills, knowledge and attitudes in the chosen Learning Areas
  • Functioning better in and contribute to the world of work
  • Being sensitive and reflective of issues relating to diversity, inclusivity, cultural values, human rights, gender, development and change
  • Developing an appreciation for lifelong learning
  • Functioning better as a citizen in South Africa and contribute to cultural, social, environmental and economic development
  • Making informed judgments about critical ethical issues
  • Developing study skills to be able to access further learning

Programme delivery is classroom based, and minimum of 24 sessions are conducted across 12 months.

National Certificate: Wholesale and Retail Chain Store Operations (NQF2 - 120 Credits)

MINIMUM ADMISSION REQUIREMENT:

  • Communication at NQF Level 1.
  • Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 1.

The National Certificate: Wholesale and Retail Chain Store Operations, addresses skills and competencies for enabling entry-level employment and positions. The qualifying learner will be able to access opportunities for further development and training in the specialised areas of Wholesale and Retail.

The following areas of specialisation are included in this learnership programme:

  • Processing payments at a Point of Sale (PoS)
  • Recording transactions
  • Marking merchandise and maintaining displays
  • Counting stock for a stock-take
  • Maintaining a safe and secure Wholesale and Retail environment

After successful completion of this qualification learners will be able to:

  • Identify and explain operational requirements in a Chain Store as they apply to a particular function(s).
  • Maintain a safe and secure operational environment according to operational requirements.
  • Execute transactions and payments at a point of sale according to operational requirements.
  • Mark, display and maintain Merchandising and Stock according to operational requirements.
  • Handle Stock according to operational requirements.

Programme delivery is classroom based, and comprises a minimum of 24 contact sessions spread across 12 months.

National Certificate: Wholesale and Retail Operations Shop Floor Practices (NQF2 - 120 Credits)

  • Communication at NQF Level 1
  • Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 1

The purpose of this Learnership is to address skills and competencies for enabling entry-level employment and positions. The qualifying learner will be able to access opportunities for further development and training in the specialized fields of Wholesale such as administration, stock control in distribution centre, and customer service in a wholesale.

The following areas of specialisation are included in this learnership programme:

  • Take orders from customers
  • Address customer queries in a Wholesale environment
  • Pick stock in a distribution centre
  • Count stock for a stock-take
  • Maintain a safe and secure Wholesale and Retail environment

After successful completion of this qualification learners will be able to:

  • Identify and explain operational requirements in a Wholesale environment as they apply to a particular function(s).
  • Maintain a safe and secure operational environment according to wholesale operational requirements.
  • Take, record and execute orders according to wholesale operational requirements.
  • Handle Stock according to wholesale operational requirements.
  • Pick and dispatch Stock as per wholesale operational requirements.

The National Certificate: Wholesale and Retail Merchandising Operations, addresses skills and competencies for enabling entry-level employment and positions. The qualifying learner will be able to access opportunities for further development and training in the specialised areas of merchandising and visual merchandising.

The following areas of specialisation are included in this learnership programme:

  • Recommending orders for clients in a FMCG environment
  • Identifying the role of the FMCG Merchandiser in the Wholesale and Retail industry
  • Uplifting stock for return
  • Counting stock for a stock-take
  • Marking merchandise and maintaining displays

After successful completion of this qualification learners will be able to:

  • Differentiate between the role and operational requirements of an internal and external merchandiser in the supply chain in terms of offering a third party service.
  • Recommend orders for clients according to operational processes and procedures.
  • Handle stock for return according to operational requirements.
  • Merchandise stock according to the requirements of all parties concerned.
  • Handle stock according to operational requirements.

The purpose of this Learnership is to address skills and competencies for enabling entry-level employment and positions. The qualifying learner will be able to access opportunities for further development and training in the specialized fields of customer care. It involves acquiring skills such as query taking, resolve customer queries and complaints, data capturing onto computer packages within a contact centre etc.

The following areas of specialisation are included in this learnership programme:

  • Resolve customer queries / complaints
  • Input data received onto appropriate computer packages within a contact centre
  • Handle help desk queries 

After successful completion of this qualification learners will be able to:

  • Identify and explain the purpose of a Help Desk function in terms of its function in the organisation.
  • Handle In-bound Help Desk calls according to operational requirements.
  • Handle Out-bound Help Desk calls according to operational requirements.
  • Maintain data on a computerised system according to operational requirements.
  • Handle and resolve customer complaints and queries  in an effective and professional manner

National Certificate: Wholesale and Retail Generic Management (NQF5 - 162 Credits)

The scope of generic management covers five domains: leadership, managing the environment, managing relations, managing knowledge and the practice of management.

A person acquiring this qualification will be able to manage first line managers in an organisational entity. First line managers may include team leaders, supervisors, junior managers, section heads and foremen.

The focus of this qualification is to enable learners to develop competence in a range of knowledge, skills, attitudes and values including:

  • Initiating, developing, implementing and evaluating operational strategies, projects and action plans, and where appropriate, recommending change within teams and/or the unit so as to improve the effectiveness of the unit.
  • Monitoring and measuring performance and applying continuous or innovative improvement interventions in the unit in order to attain its desired outcomes, including customer satisfaction, and thereby contributing towards the achievement of the objectives and vision of the entity.
  • Leading a team of first line managers, by capitalising on the talents of team members and promoting synergistic interaction between individuals and teams, to enhance individual, team and unit effectiveness in order to achieve the goals of the entity.
    Building relationships using communication processes both vertically and horizontally within the unit, with superiors and with stakeholders across the value chain to ensure the achievement of intended outcomes.
  • Applying the principles of risk, financial and knowledge management and business ethics within internal and external regulatory frameworks in order to ensure the effectiveness and sustainability of the unit.
  • Enhancing the development of teams and team members through facilitating the acquisition of skills, coaching, providing career direction, and capitalising on diversity in the unit.
